Will Singapore follow suit?

I cannot say that I did not see this coming. I have always thought with the rise in electronic devices, a ban, while crossing the roads that is probably logical.

New York To Ban iPods When Crossing The Street

Boston (eCanadaNow) - New York Senator Carl Kruger wants to make it a law that anyone who crosses the street listing to an iPod of talking on a cell phone would face a $100 fine.

Kruger stated that 3 pedestrians in his Brooklyn district have been killed since September when trying to cross the street in heavy traffic because they were distracted by their electronic device whether it be a cell phone or an iPod.

Kruger says that he will introduce to legislation on Wednesday a bill to ban the use of any electronic gadgets when crossing the street. These include video games, iPods, Blackberry devices, cell phones, etc.

Kruger states that the electronic gadgets are “reaching the point where it is becoming not only an endemic but it is creating an atmosphere where we have a major public safety crisis at hand.”
