Sri Lanka Blast Exhibition

At least 14 people were injured in the Sri Lankan capital on Tuesday when a bomb went off accidentally during a military exhibition marking the country's independence anniversary.

A Special Task Force commando was demonstrating the use of a grenade when it went off, PTI reported here quoting police spokesman.

The Bandaranaike International Conference Centre was packed with thousands of people when the blast occurred.

The government organized the four-day exhibition to mark Sri Lanka's 59th independence anniversary which fell on Sunday.

The military was exhibiting its fire power as well as weapons captured from the Tamil Tigers and the exhibits had been a big draw.
