Blowing hot and cold
So a long time since my last update. Well, I am entirely free now so what better a time than to post an entry.
A lot again has happened. I went to Colombo, Sri Lanka for 12 days. I was not planning to return till late 2008 so this trip suprised me the most. It was by far mostly involving mosuqe. I, along with 10,000 other visitors for the sermons, camped there for a period of 9 days. And of the remaining 3 days, I got some shopping done, spent some time at home with my nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, I had no time to make any social calls and I felt that even amongst my "close" circle friends, time and space has led to a drift. It blows but I guess I am not going to be mentioned in a hall of fame for the manner in which I hold onto my friendships. But it takes two hands to clap, right?
And then, of course, my introvert-ness has meant more media. I have been watching The Office (the US version which makes me wonder how good the British humour will have to be to beat this). The Jim/Pam affair makes me want to cry. They are so damn made for each other and I hope they finally do make them a couple on the show.
I also have been watching Desperate Housewives and House. Those are staple and amazing; DH because everything is linked and House - well, because Hugh Lauries (a.k.a Dr Gregory House) totally owns that role. I am waiting on Lost to resume...
I have watched Blood Diamond and the Pursuit of Happyness - partly. The damned DVD skips so I am hoping that it miraculously fixes itself the next time I play it!
Job wise - I am enjoying my rotation in Reporting. It is fun to be finally seeing the things on the ground in terms of reporting. I am also waiting on starting the self-study for my ACCA; since I am doing my first exam in Dec '07, there is loads of time. I will be saying that in Dec '07 so the preceding statement is now redundant.
I played a cricket game - meaning with a leather ball. These are more infrequent than my updates. Horrendous over. I guess not playing the game and relying only on my shoulder for pace is what should motivate to stick to finance and keep watching the game. For those interested, the over was 4, 4, 4, 2, 4, 0. There were 5 full tosses. No prizes for guessing which 5.
It was still fun. I played no further part; our batsmen romped home. Not exactly romped home; it was 42 of 36 balls but some late hitting meant we got there with 7 balls to spare. I was the scorer and I really enjoy that because it allows/forces me to follow the game closely.
I am waiting on the weekend; I want to watch "The Last King of Scotland". It already is receiving rave reviews and has received awards and oscar nominations.
Well, this is all for now. I have invested in headphones. This is the real deal. Those huge ones that I always see on the MRT. I haven't opened them yet. It is a US brand and I am going to soon. Connect it to my pod and see how it works when I am travelling.
And I do not want a PDA no more. I think it would not make any sense unless it helped in work. It is too expensive. I am thinking of a new phone as soon as my Starhub comes in for renewal. Maybe even the iPod phone. Or a Sony Ericsson. The W800 is really nice and I am sure there will be some good deals by September this year - when I will have the offer to renew :)
Haiz. I wish I could go overseas again. Business or otherwise. It is so boring at times in Singapore. I have to be making some difficult decisions in the next 24 months or so... Well, that leaves me a lot to think about!
